Philippine Tung
Philippine Tung (Reutealis trisperma) is endemic to the Philippines and used as a timber species. It is a small deciduous tree with a dense crown, glossy heart-shaped leaves and have an abnormally long stalk. Flowers are borne in drooping branched clusters at the end of branches. White flowers, flushed with pink, and have 5-7 oblong petals which are turned backwards. When the flowers appear, the tree is nearly leafless. Fruit is nearly spherical, densely velvety.
It is also cultivated in other countries such as Indonesia, China and India for its timber and medicinal use.
