Ipil Tree
The Ipil Tree (Intsia bijuga), is a large growing tree primarily found in the sandy beaches and inundated localities of Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao. It is a large tree that grows up to 50 meters height and a diameter of 150 centimeters. Its bark is smooth, sometimes flaky, with a grayish-green and occasional whitish patches color. Its leaves are green, and it typically bears white flowers.
The Ipil’s fruit and bark are reported to have medicinal properties. It is also known for its hard and durable wood used for timber, furniture making or wood carving.
