Lucky Bamboo Plant Care

Lucky bamboo can grow in a simple vase (choose transfarent vase to see the roots) filled with pebbles (for support) and at least an inch of water. However, they are very sensitive to chlorine or chemicals commonly found in tap water. Water your lucky bamboo plant only with distilled water, or tap water that has been left out for 2days to allow the chlorine to evaporate. Healthy lucky bamboo roots are red, so don’t be alarmed in a glass vase if you can see red roots. Finally, good hygiene recommends that you change the water weekly. In addition, try adding a small drop of liquid fertilizer when changing water to help the lucky bamboo grow.

The best but less decorative way to grow your lucky bamboo plant is to plant it in a well-drained, rich potting soil. The soil should be kept moist, but not soaking.

Light

Lucky Bamboo likes bright light. It’ll tolerate lower light levels just fine but it won’t grow much. Be sure to avoid putting it in direct sunlight as it’ll burn. You may need to rotate your plant so it gets light evenly on all sides.
