Tipolo or Antipolo Tree is a large tree that can reach about 30 meters high. It is endemic and can be found all over the Philippines. From March to May, it produces an oblong-shaped, yellow-green fruit covered with spikes that cannot be eaten. Tipolo’s wood can be used in constructing many different things like furniture and musical instruments.

It is said Antipolo City, the capital of Rizal, derived its name from the Antipolo tree, at a time when the tree grew in abundance locally.

Scientific name: Artocarpus blancoi
Family: Moraceae
